Heritage Cirqa - stage two

ICT have completed the installation of Cirqa and it now set up on the server.  In order to start the testing phase the Cirqa client has been made available for me to play with on my computer.

It's still very early days and many of our settings seem to have transferred OK but they all have to be put through their paces to make sure they do work as expected.  IS Oxford indicate for most users a trial period of about a month would be a basic guide but this can vary enormously as every installation is unique.

Once testing is complete I will agree a suitable time to make the switch over with ICT.  This is likely to be during a 'holiday' period which will allow us to close all the LRCs for a time if necessary.  As soon as we're close to this point I'll let everyone know.

Now I need to get the settings exactly right so I don't email everyone notifications and overdues whilst testing!!!

Heritage Cirqa - coming soon(ish)!

Just a quick update for everyone about Cirqa, the next incarnation of Heritage.

ICT have started work on setting up the new installation on a College server and once this has been completed comes the hard work of making sure all the settings are correct.

As there is no time frame for the release to us to do the set up it is impossible to say at this point in time when the 'go live' date would be...

Further details will be shared as the project moves along and nearer the switch over training on any aspects that differ from the current Heritage version will be provided.  Fortunately it looks very similar and most functions remain the same so you won't have a whole new system to learn.

New look for Philip Allan

Philip Allan Magazines Online Archives has moved to a new platform called Dynamic Learning. The link in Moodle (under More Online Resources on the E-Resources page) has been updated and students will see the view below when they access this resource.

These resources are useful for a wide range of subjects so please do take a look to familiarise yourself with the new interface and the content.

Automated fines!

.... well the calculation of them at least!

The eagle eyed amongst you will have noticed a major change in Heritage which has taken place over the summer.  We have bought and implemented the fines module - so no more having to add it all up in your head only to realise that it's a member of staff and they don't get fined!

It is very straightforward to add payments or, if necessary, to waive fines but don't worry as each site has been sent the help sheet details so you can work through the steps (see Ruth, Hannah, or Ingrid).

Heritage will not allocate fines to staff or students who are enrolled on the two identified Supported Learning courses.

I'm sure there will be some teething issues to start with - there's always something that crops up.  So do let me know if there any major issues or if you've got any questions.
